Cognitive Technologies Research Day
12-2pm Saturday, February 28
The Exploratorium
You are invited to the research workshop at the Cognitive Technologies exhibit at the Exploratorium.
At the workshop, our team will give technical presentations on a number of technologies used in neuroscience research at the cellular, anatomical, and physiological level. The presentations will dig into the modern research used to create each project in the Exploratorium exhibit.
Workshop Topics
Workshop attendees can participate in research presentations and Q&A discussions with the creators of these technologies:
Schedule:
12-1pm: Intro to the exhibit and open exploration (in the main exhibit)
1-2pm: Workshop presentations (in a museum conference room)
2pm onward: Feel free to roam the exhibit or the rest of the Exploratorium museum!

Workshop Topics
Workshop attendees can participate in research presentations and Q&A discussions with the creators of these technologies:
- The "brain-decoding" software used to recognize images in the brain from fMRI recordings (from James Gao and Natalia Bilenko in the Gallant Lab at UC Berkeley).
- Algorithms for a brain-computer interface prosthetic, similar to the work of Prof. Carmena at UC Berkeley.
- 3D models of brain vasculature, created with a new high-resolution tissue-scanning microscope (using new imaging technology from 3scan labs).
- A cloud-based machine learning platform for realtime classification and analysis of EEG data (which could be useful for labs doing neurofeedback or physiology research).
- The exhibit also demonstrates Virtual Reality activities, a calmness-training exercise using ECG feedback, and brain-inspired art pieces.
